Prior to joining Cogent Partners, Mr. Haertzen worked for the State of Idaho Endowment Fund Investment Board as the manager of investments responsible for managing $1.2 billion in financial assets. While with the Idaho Endowment Fund, he also served as the investment representative on the real asset management committee setting risk, return, and portfolio structure for the $2 billion Idaho real asset portfolio comprised of 90% timberland. Mr. Haertzen previously served as vice president, equity portfolio manager of Washington Trust Bank in Spokane, Washington where he managed individual equity portfolios for trust clients. Prior to that, he lived in Minneapolis, where he spent two years as assistant director of the Endowment Fund for the University of Minnesota, and six years in the investment department of American Express Financial Advisors, most recently managing a group of quantitative analysts for the American Express structured product line.

Mr. Haertzen earned an MBA in finance and strategic management from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and a BA in economics and business from the University of Minnesota, Morris. He recently served as a board member for the South Idaho Chapter of Investment Analysts, and is a former president of the Spokane Chapter. He is a CFA charterholder.
